Volgograd will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the victory in Stalingrad battle

Large-scale celebrations of the military parade to fireworks will be held in Volgograd on Friday, the day of the 75th anniversary of the defeat of the Soviet troops of the German fascist invaders in the battle of Stalingrad.

The celebration will open with a military parade. According to the southern military district, it will be attended by about 1.4 thousand soldiers and officers of the district. At the square of Fallen fighters will travel more than 60 vehicles, headed by the legendary tank T-34. In the sky fly about 40 helicopters, attack aircraft, bombers and fighters.

After the parade of veterans and offers all kinds of concerts, Patriotic events, film screenings, scientific-practical conference and a laser show, totally more than 200 events. Some of them started in advance. For example, a few days ago in Volgograd was opened a temporary exhibition of an armored boat BK-31, took part in the battle of Stalingrad, which was found and raised from the bottom of the Volga river in November of last year.

It is expected that the celebration will be attended by delegations from more than ten countries of Europe and CIS countries, including from Austria, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Greece, Serbia, Slovenia, France, Czech Republic. Among others, according to city Duma, in Volgograd there will arrive delegation of the faction «Left» in the German Bundestag. Special place of honor at the celebration will take the participants of the battle of Stalingrad and the great Patriotic war veterans from the cities of Russia and CIS countries.

The battle of Stalingrad (17 July 1942 – 2 February 1943) in scope, the duration and number of participants is one of the largest in the Second world war. This battle fundamentally changed the course of the war and became a harbinger of victory may 9, 1945.

The decree on granting Federal status to the 75th anniversary of the Stalingrad victory was signed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Volgograd oblast on 2 February to become a national centre of the celebrations. This day in the region declared a public holiday.
