In the area of construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait and the approaches to it found about a million artifacts, according to information center «the Crimean bridge».

The results of the joint work of nastroitelstvo with archaeologists and Museum staff led to the meeting of the Public Council for the construction of the bridge. Its members – scientists, environmentalists, historians, journalists, business representatives, sportsmen, workers of culture and art – discussed issues of preserving cultural heritage for the project of building large-scale infrastructure project.

The total area of the archaeological excavations amounted to more than 56 hectares. More than a hundred thousand artifacts, which are of scientific value, are gradually transferred to the funds of the East Crimean historical and cultural Museum-reserve and Taman Museum complex.

«The bulk of the research occurred in the areas of auto and railway approaches to the bridge from Taman and Crimea, where it was revealed dozens of objects of cultural heritage», — said the press service.

Among the artifacts, claiming to be unique, a fragment of terracotta sculptures in the shape of the head men. It was found during excavations at the large cluster of ancient ceramics in the area of bridge construction. It is assumed that this image of the Greek God, made in the form of a bust or statue in Asia Minor in the fifth century BC.

Archaeologists have studied settlement and burial complexes of the Maikop archaeological culture of the fourth Millennium BC, first in Taman opened the buildings of the bronze age the second Millennium BC.

The bridge across the Kerch Strait that will link Crimea and Krasnodar Krai, will be the longest in Russia — its length is 19 kilometers. The beginning of the movement of vehicles on the bridge is scheduled for December 2018.
