The United States fully supports the INF Treaty, are ready to engage in discussions about the breach, said assistant us President for national security Affairs Herbert McMaster.

«We fully support the INF Treaty,» said MacMaster, stating that the US «will not allow Russia to held hostage the whole country.»

«We have the opportunity to really serious discussion of the consequences of violations of the INF Treaty and instability that is created not only in Europe but throughout the world,» said McMaster, speaking at the 54-th Munich security conference.

On Friday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a conference in Munich said that the Alliance supports the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) and urges Russia to ensure transparency in its implementation.

Earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry said that Russia strictly observes its obligations under all international agreements, in particular on the INF Treaty.

The INF Treaty was signed on 8 December 1987 during the visit of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in Washington. For the first time got laid the whole class of missile with a strike range of 500 to 1000 and from 1000 to 5500 kilometers, including rockets R-12 and R-14 that the USSR in 1962 had placed in Cuba, which provoked the famous Cuban missile crisis.
