The Russian authorities are studying the possibility of denunciation of the European Convention on human rights and the termination of cooperation with the ECHR, if the anti-Russian line of court decisions is not adjusted, reported RIA Novosti sources in the relevant Russian departments.

«The Russian authorities are studying the possibility of denunciation of the European Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms and the termination of cooperation with the European court of human rights (ECHR) in the case that the current line of the court, which appear against the interests of Russia, the ECHR’s decision will not be adjusted», — said the interlocutor of the Agency.

«When reviewing complaints against Russia, the politicization of the position of the ECHR increases,» they added.

It is noted that «the reasoning and arguments of the Russian side are not taken into account».

«The court refuses to consider features of the Russian legal system and international law, and often resorted to the practice of «double standards», — said the source.

The news Agency added that «the illegal deprivation of the Russian Parliament voting rights in PACE (parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe — ed.) has led to the fact that more than 20 judges of the ECHR, many of which are charged with the consideration of Russian Affairs, elected without the participation of Russian representatives.»

«Accordingly, the question of the legitimacy of the election of these judges and their decisions in relation to the Russian Federation remains open,» explained sources in the relevant Russian departments.

«Thus, in the state bodies of Russia considers the possibility of a decision on the denunciation of the ECHR, which will lead to the exit of our country from the jurisdiction of the ECHR and the cessation of Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe», — concluded the source Agency.
