The head of «Naftogaz of Ukraine» Andrey Kobelev believes that after starting the «Nord stream — 2» «Gazprom» will raise the price of gas for European countries.

The leader of the faction «popular front» in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Maxim Burbak informed on Tuesday asked the Parliament to appeal to the international community, a statement on the inadmissibility of the construction of the gas pipeline «Nord stream — 2». The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, in turn, has repeatedly urged the EU and the European Commission to abandon the construction of Russian gas pipeline.

«When other vendors from Europe will turn away and realize that there is no point in trying to enter this market, because Gazprom is ready at any time to short-term dumping, the Russian monopoly will understand that it is this market completely closed to other suppliers. Then «Gazprom» will apply its other tactics. They will just raise the price,» — said Kobolyev in an interview with Ukrainian Agency «UKRINFORM» published Tuesday on the newspaper’s website.

In his opinion, this will happen after the completion of the «Nord stream — 2». Thus, according to KOBOLEV, Gazprom already occupies a dominant position in the European gas market and its abuses. «They won’t let other gas suppliers to this market,» he said.

Earlier in March, the heads of the parliaments of Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland in his address demanded that the parliaments of the European States to «actively engage in a discussion, on which depends the safety of a transparent energy market of the EU», reported the press service of the speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament Viktoras Pranckietis. As said «Polish radio» earlier this appeal was signed by Ukraine and Moldova. Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov called the appeal «a hysterical helplessness and anger».

The project «Northern stream — 2» involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from Russia via the Baltic sea to Germany next to the existing Nord stream, with a total value of 9.5 billion euros. Gazprom is the sole shareholder of the operator of project Nord Stream AG 2. European partners — Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper and Wintershall, has committed to Finance the project a total of 50%. The participants expect 70% of investments to be covered by project Finance.
