Awarding the peace Prize to the world Muslim Ahmadiya community, the winner of which for the year 2017 has become a well-known children’s surgeon Leonid Roshal, was held on Saturday evening in London.

As the correspondent of RIA Novosti, the doctor couldn’t come to graduation because of employment, his award from the hands of the Caliph (leader) of the community of Hazrat Mirza Masrour Ahmad received head of external scientific relations, scientific research Institute of emergency children’s surgery and traumatology angelina Alekseeva.

That Roshal was the winner of the award, the organizers told RIA Novosti 16 Feb. The award ceremony in conjunction with the community of the 15th National Symposium in the world.

«It (Roshal) can be considered the child’s doctor of the world, because he helps children, and the wounded in conflicts and technological disasters, and in all other cases… in many countries. He does everything to help children… He was right in the approach to pediatric surgery. According to his approach, a mobile team of specialists arrives at the emergency and assists. Through this approach significantly decreased the number of deaths, disabilities amputations. And you understand how important it is for growing children,» he said, receiving the award].

The Symposium is organized annually by the Ahmadiya community, he collected more than a thousand delegates from different countries, including public figures, scientists, cultural figures, parliamentarians, diplomats and representatives of different religious confessions. The Symposium gathered in the largest mosque of the United Kingdom Baitul-Futuh, located in the South of London. This year it was attended by representatives from 30 countries.

Leonid Roshal was born on 27 April 1933. He founded the scientific school in pediatric surgery for the development of conservative methods of treatment in children surgical disease requiring early surgical intervention. Roshal is the author and coauthor of 250 scientific papers, including seven monographs. Has eight patents. He is an expert of the world health organization. Dr. Roshal was the first in the world initiated the creation of specialized mobile surgical teams to assist children in hot spots — such teams are established in 33 regions of Russia.

In 1988 Roshal participated in the rescue of child victims of the earthquake in Armenia. He participated in helping the children of Georgia, Algeria, India, Japan, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Haiti (after earthquakes), Bashkiria (after train crash), military conflicts in Yugoslavia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Gas in Romania (after the revolution). Roshal led the negotiations with the terrorists during the terrorist act on Dubrovka (2002): through the building of the Theatre centre was withdrawn eight children, and the hostages were transferred to water and medicines. Also conducted negotiations with the terrorists during the terrorist act in Beslan (2004).
