The investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Chechnya has opened a criminal case after the attack on police in Grozny about the encroachment on life of the employee of law enforcement bodies, the malefactor opened fire after demanding police to produce documents, told RIA Novosti on Thursday representative of the Department.

Earlier, the interior in Chechnya reported that on Tuesday around 20.00 GMT in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny unknown shots from an unidentified weapon wounded the assistant duty officer of the police of Ministry of internal Affairs, Grozny. Retaliatory fire attacker was eliminated.

The investigation revealed the assailant, was a resident of Grozny, born in 1997.

«The case was initiated under two articles of the criminal code – attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer and illegal circulation of weapons,» — said the source.

The investigators found that «on the evening of March 20 in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny the assistant on duty demanded to check documents at the young man near the entrance to the building of the territorial police Department №4».

«The man ignored against him, the legal requirements and snatching from his belt a pistol, fired shots at the police, causing him gunshot wounds. The assailant was eliminated by return fire at the scene by police, came to the rescue to help his employee,» — said the representative office.

The complex is investigative-expeditious actions for establishment of all circumstances of the incident, concluded in the UK.
