The initiative to ban the use of powdered milk in the manufacture of cheese can have adverse consequences for producers and the industry as a whole, told RIA Novosti press-Secretary of the National Union of milk producers (Soyuzmoloko) Maria Rebit.

«Moreover, the development of drying production and market of processed cheese would further stabilize the situation with the resulting surplus of milk, so the Board Soyuzmoloko believes such an initiative is inappropriate and detrimental to Russian enterprises», — added Rebit.

Rebit said that «we support the desire of the Ministry of agriculture to solve the problem of adulteration in the milk market, however, it is worth emphasizing that the use of vegetable fats in dairy products is prohibited by law and today, its use is permitted only in milk products.»
