To abandon the dollar entirely Russia would be problematic, but there are ways to reduce dependence on the American currency inside the country, told RIA Novosti the head of the chamber of Commerce and industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin.

In early April, the US imposed new sanctions against Russia completely banning us citizens and legal entities operations with a number of major Russian companies, including RUSAL. Officially this nuance is not voiced, however, as analysts say, in particular, the rating Agency Fitch came under sanctions the company will face problems when performing calculations in dollars as in commercial transactions and debt service.

Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti on Monday that Moscow is discussing with partners in the G20 and BRICS, the question of abuse of Washington status of the dollar as the main reserve currency.

«While no decisions there. This is actually a serious question, how is it possible to abandon the dollar, because of the relationship and transactions between countries today are in it. Dependence within the country can be reduced through limiting the circulation and accumulation of currency, I think so,» said Katyrin on the sidelines of the international conference «Digital transformation: intellectual property and the blockchain technology».

«But so far no action is being discussed, this promise is there in the state Duma and so on. This does not mean that the issue will be the materialization of the government or the Duma», — said the head of the chamber of Commerce.
