The impact of possible new US sanctions on Russian assets and the macroeconomic background will be quite limited, says the program Director of the international discussion club «Valdai» Yaroslav Lissovolik.

«In my opinion, the effect (of new sanctions — ed.) will not be very significant. I think those rounds restrictions, which were held recently, gave a certain effect on financial markets, but from the point of view of such macro parameters, from the point of view of economic growth, from the point of view of investment growth, until, probably, early to speak about the fact that there was some significant effect,» said Lissovolik RIA Novosti.

«I think that the further promotion of the sanctions, probably, if it would be enough of a point, limited in scope, and in these conditions, I think that their future effect on Russian assets and the macroeconomic background will be quite limited,» — he said RIA Novosti.

«Financial markets have largely adapted to this negative pressure and we have seen a stabilisation of the exchange rate last week, by the end of the week there was some strengthening of the ruble and other segments of the financial market», — said Lissovolik. The expert also noted that high oil prices offset the negative impact of sanctions. «Should probably mention the fact that a mitigating factor is the high price of oil. At the moment they are more than comfortable for the budget and overall macroeconomic background this factor largely compensates for the negative, which is part of such restrictions, — explained the expert.

On Sunday, the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley said that the United States will announce new sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Syria on Monday. According to her, the new sanctions Washington against Moscow will relate to companies that have supplied Syria with technology that contributed to the production of chemical weapons.

The US, Britain and France on Saturday morning fired missiles on Syrian government facilities that, in their opinion, are used to produce chemical weapons. With 3.42 5.10 MSK MSK before they fired on Syria more than 100 rockets, most of which was shot down by Syrian air defense. Russian forces were not involved, but kept track of all the triggers. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the strikes an act of aggression against a sovereign state, despite the fact that no Russian military experts or local residents did not support a finding of a chemical attack became the pretext for attacks.
