Russia is considering the issue of extending the agreement with Iran under the program «oil in exchange for goods» for five years, until it extended to 2018, told reporters Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak.

«The agreement is valid, it is extended (2018 edition). the first delivery was now organized the next delivery. Now God extended (the agreement — ed.) but in General, we believe that it should be extended for five years,» said Novak.

The first delivery of oil from Iran in the framework of the program was carried out in November 2017. In March, Novak said that the program «oil in exchange for goods» to be continued in 2018. He then noted that Russia is negotiating with potential end buyers of Iranian oil, confirmed plans to seek volumes of supply of 5 million tons per year.

Russia and Iran began to discuss the so-called the program «oil in exchange for goods» a few years ago, in August 2014, was signed the Memorandum. However, the launch of joint program repeatedly postponed, largely due to difficulties with money calculations. Authorized by the Russian government in this transaction is subordinated to the Ministry of energy «Promsyreimport». Under the program, Tehran needs to send half of the funds received for the purchase of Russian goods and services.
