The Commission proposes to introduce new rules to facilitate law enforcement agencies access to electronic data and financial information, including the investigation of cases of terrorism.

The EC proposals also include stricter rules for the control of precursors of explosives for the import and export of firearms.

«The Commission will present a number of new proposals in the field of security aimed at narrowing the space in which terrorists and criminals can operate, depriving them of their means to commit crimes. These proposals will include measures to facilitate cross-border law enforcement access to electronic evidence and financial information,» — said the press service of the EU Council.

Measures will also be aimed at fighting fraud with documents and use of false identity documents.

New proposals must be published on Tuesday.
