The President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the law on the notification procedure for the start of the activities of organizations operating elevators, moving walkways and escalators, the corresponding document published on the official portal of legal information.

Now from the firms engaged in this activity, such notification is not required.

The law establishes a notification procedure for the start-up for organizations carrying out installation, dismantling, operation, including maintenance and repair of lifts, lifting platforms for disabled people, moving walkways, escalators (except for escalators in undergrounds).

This should allow Supervisory authorities to consider such organizations and conduct routine checks with the statutory intervals. Currently, according to Rostekhnadzor, the number of such organizations is around 1 thousand.

The law should enter into force on 1 September 2018, and carrying out the relevant activities of the organization within six months after this date are required to notify the Rostechnadzor.
