Russian scientists found on the surface of the International space station holmium – the substance most frequently found in the studied parts of our universe on the Przybylski star in the constellation of Centaurus, according to the report of the brain research Institute of Roscosmos TsNIIMash.

To the ISS in 2010, an experiment «Test». It involves the installation on the external surface of the station «traps» for small particles of cosmic dust and return them to Earth to study the composition. During the experiment the Earth was launched on 19 samples. The last time samples were collected cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Sergey Ryazanskiy during a spacewalk on August 17, 2017.

«The chemical analysis of the convolution of fabric for the first time in cosmic dust in significant concentrations discovered element holmium. This lanthanide is very rare and is on the Ground dispersed. His unexpectedly high content can be explained only by the contact with the ISS surface dust from interplanetary space and «large interplanetary dust» – materialnogo substances. Among space objects abnormally high content of holmium differs star Przybylski,» — said in the report.

In addition, the trial was not for the first time discovered DNA of bacteria of the surface layer of the oceans.

The Przybylski’s star is in the constellation of Centaurus at a distance of about 410 light years from the Sun.
