Canada condemned the opening of the Crimean bridge

Canada condemned the construction and partial opening of the Crimean bridge. This is stated on the website of the foreign Ministry.

The office was called the construction a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

According to head the Ministry of foreign Affairs Christi Freeland, the bridge contributes to «strengthening of the unlawful possession by Russia Peninsula and the violent rejection of it from the rest of Ukraine.»

Crimean bridge

Kerch Strait bridge — the longest in Russia, its length is 19 kilometers. Vehicular traffic on the highway launched six months before the initial deadline.

Now the entrance to the bridge allowed cars and passenger buses. Truck traffic will open tentatively in October 2018 and trains at the end of 2019.

On the bridge, with two lanes in each direction are allowed to travel at speeds up to 90 kilometers per hour, stopping is prohibited.

The opening ceremony took place on 15 may. Vladimir Putin driving a KAMAZ broke way from the Krasnodar region to Kerch slightly more than a quarter of an hour.

Crimea became Russian after held there in March 2014 referendum. More than 95 percent of the residents voted for joining Russia.

Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
