In exchange, the American leader offered Merkel is negotiating a new trade agreement between the regions reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing officials from Germany, the US and the EU.

A leading analyst of the national energy security Fund Igor Yushkov on radio Sputnik shared his opinion about whether it will go Berlin.

According to him, Germany is unlikely to agree to such a deal with the United States. The expert believes that Berlin understands that trump shows itself as an unreliable politician. The U.S. position

During his speech in Berlin, she said that the United States may impose sanctions against the participants of the project on construction of the pipeline. While Washington hopes that restrictive measures will not come.

According to Oudkerk, the United States would be happy if the project did not take place. The politician explained that the U.S. position is driven by geopolitical and energy reasons.

Against the project were made by several States, particularly the United States and Ukraine, which fears to lose the income from the transit of Russian fuel. And Washington intends to supply Europe with its liquefied natural gas. The leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, in turn, believe that the construction of the gas pipeline — a political project.

Permission to build the pipeline was issued by Germany and Finland. Countries have already started the preparatory work.

In the framework of the project it is planned to build two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The new pipeline is planned to be build next to the existing «Northern stream».

The pipeline plans to spend 9.5 billion rubles. European partners — Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper and Wintershall — for its part, has committed to financing the «Nord stream — 2» in total 50%, ie 950 million euros each. «Gazprom»will provide the other half of the funds to 4.75 billion euros.
