The head of the state Duma Committee on labor, social policy and veterans ‘ Affairs Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR) opposed raising the retirement age, and expressed the opinion that such a measure is «banal savings».

Previously, the newspaper «Kommersant», citing sources in the White house announced that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday will hold a meeting with members of the Cabinet, which will discuss the prospects of raising the retirement age.

«Raising the retirement age is a banal saving. The fact that a growing number of people unable to work — Yes, (but) we will strive to increase the number of working-age population. For this we need to give people before forming their rights, the need to fight unemployment and to deal with grey employment», — said RIA Novosti Nilov.

The MP said that the faction of the liberal democratic party opposes raising the retirement age and proposes other ways to reform the pension system. Among them, Nilov said the possibility of conversion and additional education for seniors, registration of entrepreneurs from 14 years of age, issues of self-employment, combating unemployment and grey employment.

«Let’s see how today’s 14 years of youth work. On the Internet, make websites, write articles, do design, tutoring, teaching doing. A lot of people at the age of 14 to independently earn. Let them officially to do it all, and they would be happy if they wish to form their pension rights,» he said.
