Russia reduced the growth of new cases of HIV infection up to one percent

Over the last 3 years increase in new HIV cases was reduced to 1%, said the acting Minister of health of Russia Veronika Skvortsova at the all-Russian student forum «let’s Stop AIDS together.»

«If 3 years ago the increase annually in new HIV infections in our country amounted to 8-10%, but this year it is 1%. We left a little bit in order for the situation to stabilize,» — said Skvortsov.

She added that over the past five years, the number of surveyed HIV in Russia increased in 5 times — 25% of the population of the country were screened free of charge.

Over the past 3 years has changed approach of diagnosis and treatment of HIV infection. «We switched to the most advanced, the most modern international treatment regimens,» — said Skvortsov.

Much remains to be done in order to defeat HIV, but now there are all modern possibilities for this, said Skvortsova.
