Allegations of violations by Russia of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) are not any specific grounds and factual evidence, this is another attempt of unfair competition, said to RIA Novosti, a Russian military expert, chief editor of the magazine «national defense» Igor Korotchenko.

Earlier, the White House announced that the President of the United States Donald trump has instructed Secretary of state Mike Pompeo to prepare proposals on measures against Russia in connection with the alleged violation of the INF Treaty with Moscow.

«This is a known charges, they stem from the fact that we are violating the Treaty by developing and adopting new missile systems that allegedly violate the accepted Moscow’s commitments. But this is purely political accusations, unsubstantiated, not supported by absolutely no factual circumstances», — said Korotchenko.

He called this the rhetoric of the U.S. continued hostile policy of Washington towards Russia. According to Korotchenko, the USA use any reasons for the adoption of «new sanctions» and expand the list of companies and Russian citizens who fell under their effect.

«It is another attempt of unfair competition, the desire to undermine the position of the defense enterprises of Russia due to the contrived mythical charges, using them for new sanctions,» — said the expert.

The INF Treaty prohibits parties from possessing ballistic missiles, land-based and cruise missiles with a range of from 500 to 5.5 thousand kilometers. Russia and the United States periodically put forward mutual accusations of violating INF Treaty, signed in 1987. Moscow and Washington accuse each other of violating the agreement.

The Russian foreign Ministry said earlier that Moscow is seriously concerned about the use of unconfirmed data on the INF Treaty as a pretext for a campaign with a call to conduct retaliatory measures against Russia.

The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that «any violations on our part.» He noted that «the United States claim otherwise, but provide no specific information that could be checked in order to clarify the situation.» According to Lavrov, Moscow «there are very serious questions to US» about some «liberties» with the implementation of the Treaty by the Americans themselves.
