The state Duma will consider the statement in connection with the actions of the SBU against Russian journalists

The state Duma at plenary session on Thursday could make the statement in connection with the actions of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) against the Russian journalists.

Employees of the security Service of Ukraine may 15, burst into the office, where correspondents of RIA Novosti in Kiev, and conducted a search, which lasted about eight hours. Also on Tuesday it became known about detention in Kiev the head of RIA news Ukraine Kirill Vyshinsky. He is suspected of supporting the breakaway republics of Donbass and treason. The SBU also searched the apartment of the correspondent of RIA Novosti in Ukraine Lyudmila Lysenko. In addition, searches were held in the apartment of the head of representation of RIA Novosti in Ukraine Andrei Borodin. Lysenko and Borodin was summoned for questioning to the SBU.

Borodin later got in touch with the editorial office and reported that his house many hours of conducted investigative actions. He also noted that he was not arrested and was not charged.

As expected, based on the statements of the lower house will be taken from the text, made earlier by the state Duma Committee on information policy, information technologies and communications. In its statement, the Committee appealed to the international organizations that monitor compliance with human rights, in particular, the Council of Europe and the OSCE to draw attention to «egregious act of violation of journalists ‘rights».

The Russian foreign Ministry called Kiev’s actions in relation to RIA Novosti Ukraine arbitrariness. As stated by the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, Kiev’s actions against journalists, RIA Novosti Ukraine is unacceptable. The Russian Embassy has sent the Ukrainian foreign Ministry a note of protest with the requirement to stop violence against media representatives. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov also said that the Kremlin expected the harsh reaction of international organizations on the actions of the SBU.

The OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir expressed serious concern about the actions of Ukrainian authorities in relation to RIA Novosti Ukraine in Kiev. He recalled that, «in accordance with the Helsinki final act, the participating countries of the OSCE have committed themselves to promote conditions that will enable journalists from one participating country to conduct their professional activities in another.» The statement noted that the Military continues to closely monitor developments around the SBU searched the offices of Russian media.
