American President Donald trump has instructed Secretary of state Mike Pompeo to prepare proposals for new restrictive measures against Russia. This was announced at the White house.

The US claims that Moscow has violated the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty).

Pompeo will work with the ministries of Finance, defense, trade, and also with the Director of national intelligence.

Congress expects the President a report with a plan of action against Russian officials who could be involved in violating the INF Treaty, including the possible imposition of sanctions and the ban on contacts at the procurement budget of the United States.

«Purely political prosecution»

Russian politicians and analysts believe that this decision was expected, and it is not necessary for any actual evidence.

So, the military expert, chief editor of the magazine «national defense» Igor Korotchenko believes that these statements do not have any specific grounds and factual evidence, this is another attempt of unfair competition.

In his opinion, this is a purely political prosecution.

He called this the rhetoric of the U.S. continued hostile policy of Washington in relation to Moscow. According to Korotchenko, the USA use any reasons for the adoption of «new sanctions» and expand the list of enterprises and of the Russians who fell under their effect.

In turn, the former head of the international Treaty Directorate of the Russian Ministry of defense Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Buzhinsky said that Washington’s intention was to be expected.

«They have the draft budget contains a requirement to impose sanctions for the violation of the INF Treaty,» said he, adding that this decision does not involve any changes in relations between the two countries.

Dunay called the U.S. plans «rat race».

«They will include a dozen people who, in their opinion, has developed a new cruise missile, and will impose sanctions on the innovator if it is not under sanctions,» he concluded.

Guilty to make Russia

According to the expert on international Affairs, associate Professor, NRU HSE Dmitry Ofitserov-Belsky, the INF Treaty was in the focus of the US because of their desire to withdraw from the agreement.

«Given that they have made a very serious change in its nuclear program, and suggest the possibility of a broader use of nuclear weapons», — he said on radio Sputnik.

In his opinion, the US wants to withdraw from the agreement so that the blame was placed on Russia.

But it is not only in a renewed nuclear program the United States — these steps fit into the mainstream of the current White house’s foreign policy, said Ofitserov-Belsky.

However, he said, for the United States is not as important a reason for the introduction of new restrictive measures. According to him, their sanctions policy for decades.

«This is an attempt to influence the economic development of Russia in the next several decades,» concluded the expert.

The INF Treaty

The INF Treaty was signed the eighth of December 1987 during the visit of Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in Washington. Got laid a whole class of missile weapons with a range of from 500 to 1000 km and from 1000 to 5500 kilometers. Including provoked the 1962 Cuban missile crisis missiles R-12 and R-14.

In Moscow claim that Russia refuses to further arms reductions, called «outright fraud». Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow wants to maintain the agreement and are ready to work with Washington on this issue.
