Moscow hopes that the European Union, building policy towards Russia, will cease to go on about the small group of countries-Russophobes, said acting foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

He noted that Moscow would like to see the EU «strong, consolidated and responsible player in international Affairs, is able to formulate an independent foreign policy agenda in the interests of the peoples of Europe».

«I hope that the EU will be able to overcome the inertia of thinking, to find the strength to abandon the building of the Russian policy on the principle of «lowest common denominator», ceasing to be led by small but very aggressive group of countries Russophobes. This not only would provide greater predictability of Russia-EU relations, but also conducive to strengthening confidence and mutual understanding on our continent, — said Lavrov in an interview with the magazine «Russian Business Guide – Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce».
