Marine terminal for transshipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which NOVATEK will build in Kamchatka, will allow to create conditions for year-round use of the Northern sea route, told reporters in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky acting Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.

Kamchatka Trutnev held a number of meetings on the implementation of the project «NOVATEK» and India’s TATA Power.

«In one of them only private investment will be 1 billion dollars – on the project «NOVATEK». Project TATA – $ 600 million… the Project «NOVATEK» creates the conditions of a guaranteed gas supply in Kamchatka, it’s an old painful problem. Creates conditions for year-round use of the Northern sea route. And this is a new page in the development of all logistics — not only of the Far East. A new window opened», — said Trutnev.

In October 2017, NOVATEK and the government of Kamchatskiy Krai signed an agreement on cooperation on creation in the territory of the sea terminal for transshipment of LNG. The planned terminal capacity is 20 million tons per year, but in the future it can be increased to 40 million tons.

Tata Power in Kamchatka intends to implement a project to develop Krutogorovskaya coal deposits.
