The German government has repeatedly declared its readiness to dialogue with the United States on tariffs on steel and aluminium, will continue to advocate for an open and multilateral trading system, said the foreign Minister of Germany Heiko Maas.

«The German government has repeatedly demonstrated to the U.S. side our willingness to dialogue in order to achieve long-term exclusion from the U.S. duties on steel and aluminum. We will continue to advocate for an open and multilateral trading system before the American government,» said Maas, it quoted the newsletter of the German foreign Ministry.

Previously, Washington announced that it imposes duties in respect of imported steel and aluminium to the United States from Europe, Canada, Mexico and South Korea and other countries, with the exception of Argentina. They will come into force on Friday.
