The head of the Federal project «Sober Russia» Sultan Hamzaev will direct the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky with the request to check the cultural objects subject to a sale of alcohol.

Earlier, the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, commenting on the incident in the Tretyakov gallery, which was damaged by Ilya Repin’s painting «Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan», said that in cultural institutions to deal with security. She also wondered, «why our museums of vodka and cognac» and «on what basis in museums, cultural centers, you can drink alcohol»?

As explained later, the Ministry of culture, retail sales of alcoholic beverages are not permitted in buildings owned or used by legal entities carrying out activities in the field of culture. At the same time, a ban on the sale of alcohol does not apply to retail sale activities by organizations, and the retail sale of beer, beer drinks, cider, Poiret, Mead, performed by individual entrepreneurs who provide services of public catering in the concert and theatre halls and parks.

«Galleries, theatres, museums and other cultural facilities are intended to people, visiting them, getting new knowledge, improve their cultural level. Sale and consumption of alcohol in such places is unacceptable,» — said RIA Novosti Khamzayev.

According to the public man, the appeal, signed by the project experts, will soon be sent to Medina.

«Our main goal is to preserve the cultural code and historical memory of cultural facilities, especially that such incidents show the danger can be these places. For the safety of visitors and the cultural objects we ask you to organize such a test», — says the appeal comes at.
