The Russian government called on regional authorities to engage in price controls at the gas station, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak on the results of selector meeting with the regions on the situation with fuel prices.

«We drew the attention of governors to the need to engage in price controls on petrol stations, especially the regional component of this a serious problem that at present there», — said Kozak in interview to TV channel «Russia 24».

He expressed hope that the joint administrative and economic efforts fuel prices to stabilise. «In some regions the situation has stabilized,» — said Kozak.

Prices for oil products in the Russian Federation in recent years has increased dramatically. In may and early June, retail gasoline prices have exceeded the levels 41, 42 and 43 rubles per liter. The Cabinet adopted a decision to reduce the excise tax on gasoline and diesel fuel, and agreed with the major oil companies that they are on time decision-making support the industry fix the prices at 30 may.
