IKEA in a few months ready to open in Russia 5-7 small stores if the experience of the pilot store in Moscow will be positive, said Deputy General Director of retail chain IKEA in Russia Gerhard Moritz.

On Thursday, IKEA opened its first store in small format, combining a design Studio kitchens and wardrobes, as well as the reception of orders. He is in Moscow in the shopping center «Aviapark», the area of the new store is over 300 square meters.

«If the experience we gain here will be positive, we in the next few months ready to open 5-7 more of these small stores, mostly in Moscow and St. Petersburg,» said Moritz at the opening ceremony.

He noted that in recent time has changed the consumer preferences of the Russians: for example, they are not always willing to spend extra time to get to the IKEA store. «The second wish is that our prices were affordable for many people, not just a few,» added Moritz.

IKEA is the world’s largest retail network on trade in furniture and household goods, founded in 1943 in Sweden. The group at the end of August 2017 403 owned store in 49 countries. To date, 11 major regions of Russia opened 14 shopping centers «Mega», each of them is IKEA.
