General Director of JSC «Russian Railways» Oleg Belozerov at meeting on Wednesday called for strengthening the work to prevent accidents at railway crossings, said in a statement on Thursday.

«It is necessary together with the Ministry of transport, traffic police, NGOs to form a plan of specific measures and submit it to the government Commission on ensuring road traffic safety», — quoted in the message words Belozerova.

According to him, it has to be systematic work at all levels, including the regions. Perhaps, he added, will need to tighten the responsibility of drivers and guides trucking companies for violation of traffic rules while crossing railway crossings. «Level crossings should be equipped with the most modern systems of monitoring and prevention, and advocacy — to be more active,» — said the head of Russian Railways.

RZD note that the number of accidents at railway crossings remains a significant, and in most cases the perpetrators of the accidents are the drivers of the vehicles that are in violation of the rules of the road go on moving in prohibiting the testimony of the automatic alarm, and closed the gates.
