Russia’s Supreme court on 9 July will consider the complaint of the messenger Telegram, which tries to challenge the orders of the FSB of the Russian Federation, according to which the secret service need to provide the keys to decrypt user messages, reports the website of the court.

The defense insisted that the orders of the FSB was adopted by an unauthorized Agency in excess of authority and establishes a non-judicial way of obtaining control over correspondence of an indefinite circle of people. This situation, according to lawyers, «threatens the security of citizens.»

Roskomnadzor has made a court decision on the Telegram lock in Russia after the messenger in defiance of the law did not give the FSB the keys to decrypt user messages. The Telegram argument is that it is technically impossible, the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov called craftiness.

Roskomnadzor noted that the actions of the messenger threaten the interests of the state and the Russians and can play into the hands of terrorists, who were reported to be actively using Telegram for secret communication.
