The Russian organizers of the experiment «Mars-500» on imitation of flight to Mars awarded the International Academy of Astronautics, told RIA Novosti the Institute of biomedical problems (IBMP) Russian Academy of Sciences is the main organizer of the project.

A series of experiments «Mars-500» started with preparatory studies in 2007. The main experiment took place from 2010 to 2011, and lasted 519 days. It was attended by three representatives of Russia, citizens of France, Italy and China.

«The Supervisory Council of the International Academy of Astronautics (International Academy of Astronautics, IAA) 19 June 2018 at the meeting took the decision to award collective award «Laurel wreath-2018″ IAA international research team», — reported in the IBMP.

Of the 15 people who received the collective award, 10. They all took part in organization studies «Mars-500». It is a scientific supervisor of medical and biological problems Anatoly Grigoryev, Director of the Institute Oleg Orlov, staff IBMP mark Belakovsky, Evgeny Demin, Alexander Suvorov, Vadim Gushchin, the Deputy head of Roscosmos Sergey Savelyev, Deputy head of the cosmonaut training Center, Maxim Kuznetsov, General Director of NPP «Star» Sergei Pozdnyakov, the General designer RKK «Energy» Evgeny Mikrin.

The award «Laurel wreath» is given to the team of scientists, engineers and managers for distinguished achievement in Astronautics. For the award, the band has advanced the state Corporation Roscosmos.
