The European Commission’s decision on the Antimonopoly case against «Gazprom» can you give examples of reasonable compromise, said in an interview with RIA Novosti Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

«I would have called it an example of a reasonable compromise. I remember how this case started seven years ago — how many emotions and passions around him, but in the end the dialogue on this issue could translate into work mode without unnecessary publicity and to complete the case is really a compromise,» he said.

The European Commission in 2012 initiated an Antimonopoly investigation against «Gazprom». On may 24 this year the EC completed its investigation without fines for Gazprom. The EC agreed to take on the production of a number of obligations on its work in certain countries of Central and Eastern Europe, in the case of violations which may be imposed penalties of up to 10% of the global turnover of the Russian gas company. In particular, «Gazprom» will remove barriers for cross-border resale of gas in Central and Eastern Europe.
