Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday held telephone talks with his Zimbabwean counterpart Sibusiso Moyo, said the Russian foreign Ministry.

According to the report, the conversation was initiated by the Zimbabwean parties.

«The foreign Ministers of two countries discussed some issues of bilateral and international agenda», — stated in the message.

In March, as part of tours to Africa, Lavrov visited Zimbabwe and met with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the negotiations with the counterpart Moyo. It was the first visit by a senior Russian official in this country after the end of November 2017 President Robert Mugabe, resigned under pressure from the military and the leadership of the ruling party «Zimbabwe African national Union — Patriotic front» (ZANU-PF).

During the visit, Lavrov discussed the two countries ‘ cooperation in the production of platinum and diamonds, has informed the Zimbabwean side about the interest of Russian companies to the market of Zimbabwe, and delivered a message on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who expressed support for the efforts of Mnangagwa in the stabilization of the political situation, the consolidation of society and development of international cooperation.
