The fire on the territory of the former cellulose and paper plant (CDC) in the city of Sovetsk of the Kaliningrad region on the area about 3,5 thousand square meters were eliminated, reported the press service of the main Department of EMERCOM of Russia in the region.

Friday afternoon in the former CDC in Sovetsk there was a fire. The fire area of 200 square meters increased rapidly, amounting to almost 3.5 thousand square meters, of which more than 300 square meters — the building, the remaining area is an open area where the stockpiled waste. According to the press service of EMERCOM in the region, maximum quenching was attracted 113 people and 33 units of equipment, including 88 people and 24 units of equipment from EMERCOM.

On Friday at the scene of the fire were sent to the Ka-32 helicopter with a remote discharge device, which had 28 discharges. Also involved was a fire train, which was sent from the city of Chernyakhovsk. GU Ministry of emergency situations announced that the fire was localized in 19.34 (20.34 GMT), the evening and at night experts were engaged in a «pouring» areas to prevent reignition. No one was injured, according to the Agency.
