The state Duma adopted a law which introduces since March 1, 2019 mandatory additional labeling of tobacco products.

The document stipulates that in order to prevent illicit trade in tobacco products each pack and package of tobacco products subject to mandatory marking means of identification. This will allow you to track the movement of such goods from the manufacturer to the end user and to control the legality of their origin.

Verification of identification will be carried out by organizations engaged in wholesale and retail trade in tobacco products and tobacco products, with the use of special systems.

Contained in such systems will be used to account for the production and tracking trade in tobacco products in the framework of the EAEU along with the data of the customs and tax authorities and the producers themselves.

In 2016, the EEU countries introduced mandatory labelling of fur and fur products with RFID-tags. In addition, in Russia started experiments on the labelling of medicines (QR code) and cigarettes (two-dimensional code Data Matrix). 1 June was the start of the experiment for the labelling of Shoe commodities by means of identification, it will last until 30 June 2019. In the experiment, the Data Matrix code is applied in a Shoe box or, if missing, on the product label. Until 2024 Russia is expected to create a solid system of marking and traceability products.
