Large-scale military-historical reconstruction of the events of 1480 on the Ugra river, through which Russia finally freed from the Mongol-Tatar yoke and gained independence with the centre in Moscow, will be held on Saturday within the framework of days of Moscow in Kaluga region.

Standing on the Ugra in 1480 became an end in Russia Tatar-Mongol yoke. From 8 October to 11 November, the Horde tried to cross the river, but eventually abandoned their attempts, faced with the resistance of the Russian artillery.

In September 2014 near Kaluga in Kaluga Vladimir skete Svyato-Tikhonova desert (rural Palaces) was opened the Museum-diorama «the Great Standing on the Ugra river». He is in the territory, which in 1480 was occupied by troops involved in Standing.

«The event will start in the Vladimir skete at 11.00 GMT with laying flowers to the Memorial cross. Next, guests will visit the diorama «Great standing on the Ugra river» honored artist of Russia Pavel Ryzhenko. At 14 o’clock will begin a solemn rally and military-historical reconstruction», — said at a briefing in Moscow the Minister of internal policy and mass communications of Kaluga region Oleg Kalugin.

According to him, the reconstruction of the Kaluga holds club military-historical reconstruction «the Battalion». It will be attended by at least 600 horses and not less than 300 reconstruction from Kaluga, Moscow, Moscow region, Orel, Tatarstan, Bashkiria. He noted that the military-historical reconstruction of the Great standing on the Ugra river held in Kaluga region since 2011. Last year the event attracted around 10 million viewers. End of Standing in the year 2017 has become a regional holiday.

After the reconstruction, said Kalugin, Vladimir skete, you will see the everyday life of Russian soldiers in the era of the Tatar-Mongol yoke, the life of the Horde, to archery, to participate in the jousting. The festivities will continue in Kaluga, where the capitals star will give a concert at one of the trendy areas of the city – Gostiny Dvor. Before the concert, the Moscow government delegation will lay flowers to the monument of Ivan III on the area of the Old Torg in the city centre.

Kalugin recalled that it was under Ivan III after the Great stand on the Ugra river Moscow was the Moscow, which is today.

«After Ugric peoples, when we shook off the Tartar yoke, Moscow became the capital of an independent sovereign Russian state, which appeared before the eyes of astonished Europe, and Asia. The days of Moscow in Kaluga region will be held on 13 and 14 July. Reciprocal Days of Kaluga region in Moscow will be held in September.
