In St. Petersburg, the group «Hizb ut-Tahrir»* pleaded guilty in court

Seven of the eight alleged members of the St. Petersburg cell of the banned terrorist organization «Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami»* pleaded guilty, the correspondent of RIA news from the hall of the Leningrad district military court.

The Moscow district military court on Monday started hearing the case in the order of the visiting session in St. Petersburg. According to the indictment, appeared before the court eight accused, including six Russian citizens, and citizens of Tajikistan.

The defendants were arrested in St. Petersburg in the period of 2016-2017 years. All eight were charged with committing a crime under part 2 of article 205.5 of the criminal code («participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation»). The investigation led the investigation service of the FSB of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

The indictment States that the accused was engaged in recruitment of new members of terrorist organizations, and conducted training sessions. The defendants had previously been witnessed in cases of previously convicted members of the St. Petersburg cell of «Hizb ut-Tahrir»*.

Seven of the accused after the announcement of the indictment pleaded guilty. Only one of them — a citizen of Tajikistan, told the court that in any terrorist organizations was not.

Five accused after the beginning of the hearing said petition the trial in a special manner. In the petition the court denied. At the meeting on Tuesday summoned for questioning several witnesses.
