The EU and China agreed to establish a joint group on the issue of reforming the WTO, said the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker after talks in Beijing.

«I welcome the fact that the EU and China agreed to create a joint group on issues of reforming the WTO, and it is not only about how to create a group, but to achieve results,» — said Juncker, who is at the talks in Beijing as part of the EU delegation.

The administration of the President of the United States Donald trump is an aggressive trade policy on several fronts. Mutual increased customs duties between the US and China entered into force on 6 July this year. The US imposed import duties of 25% on 818 import of goods from China total volume of 34 billion dollars per year. As a countermeasure, China on the same day, imposed a duty of 25% on import of equivalent amount of American goods.

The United States also imposed higher duties on imports from third countries, including EU States, steel and aluminum products. The reaction of the European Commission was not long in coming: opened a dispute in WTO with the United States on these tariffs, imposed an additional duty of 25% on imports into the EU of a number of goods from the United States. Then U.S. President Donald trump in June, threatened on Twitter that the US will impose import duties of 20% on cars from the EU.
