Russia loses in the number of recognized scientific journals from China and the US, said the rector of Moscow state University (MGU) Victor Sadovnichy.

«We look pale against the background of the world. Of course, we lose. What you need to do is an example of a very heated discussion on science, history,» — said Sadovnichy at the meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Union of rectors.

Thus, the impact factor (the numerical indicator of the importance of the scientific journal — ed.) in the bibliographic and abstract database Scopus in 2017 amounted to an RF of 0.23 in China-0.3 and in America — 0,56.

«In the Scopus, the share of Russian scientific journals is 1.1%,» from the presentations made at the meeting.

Sadovnichy noted that the need to fully support Russian scientific journals in the Scopus system.
