The ceremonies of the consecration of places of mass bathing in Mordovia along with other measures, may have led to a decrease in the number of dead in the waters last year, reports of EMERCOM in the Republic.
Consecration of the waters is conducted in the framework of the cooperation agreement between MOE, Mordovia and dioceses that are part of the Mordovian metropolis. This practice first appeared in Mordovia Republic in the summer of 2017.
«Perhaps including and as a result of prayers, the number of dead in the waters of Mordovia in 2017 declined compared to the previous year. In any case, the emergency situations Ministry are ready to cooperate with other government agencies, and civic and religious organisations in various forms for the sake of preservation of human life», — stated in the message.
According to rescuers, most of the largest reservoirs of Saransk is already sanctified.
«In the midst of the bathing season Orthodox priests conduct rites of consecration of places of mass bathing. … The priest reads the prayer on the shore, the boat passes a pond with a censer, sprinkles Holy water on the beach and saving post» — informs a rescue Agency.
It is noted that in the framework of the agreement on cooperation with the dioceses of the employees of the State Inspectorate for small vessels, periodically hold classes in Sunday schools at churches.
