The desire of Kiev to create a unified local Church in Ukraine leads to a split among the Orthodox and the incitement of hatred on religious grounds, said the envoy of the self-proclaimed Donetsk national Republic in the contact group on Donbass Denis Putilin.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is trying to achieve recognition of non-canonical structures and the creation on their basis one local Autocephalous Church. In response to the appeal of the secular authorities, the Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople declared that «has decided on the request to be in close communion with the other sister Orthodox churches for their information and coordination». Poroshenko believes that Tomos (decree) of autocephaly to be signed «to 1030 anniversary of the baptism of Ukraine-Rus ‘» (July 28).

«The Kiev regime… deliberately uses today, along with Russophobia and the attempt to split among the Orthodox believers», — said in a statement Pushilin, widespread his press-service.

According to the representative of DND, promising to create a unified Orthodox Church, Poroshenko «knowingly and persistently leads to the incitement in the country to hatred on religious grounds». He also believes that the desire of Kiev to create the autocephaly in Ukraine is an order from the outside, «because the foreign partners of Ukraine to the worsening situation in the country, the further the gap with Russia.»

«Especially cynical of the schismatic actions of the Ukrainian authorities look at the eve 1030-anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. Instead of the spiritual unity of the Slavs Kiev demonstrates the strengthening of the policy of disintegration of the country, and we are talking not only of the Donbass» — said Pushilin.

In Ukraine today there are canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC-MP), which is a self-governing Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, and unrecognized by the world Orthodox Church structures — the «Kiev Patriarchate» (UOC-KP) and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC). The UOC-MP has repeatedly reported on cases of harassment of priests and seizures of the Orthodox churches of the dissenters.
