The bus fleet in Moscow will be fully electric in seven or eight years, said the head of the Moscow Department of transport Maxim Liksutov at the VI International expert Council on transport issues in the environment.

International expert Council on transport issues held in the capital from 25 to 26 July. It discussed the development of taxi transportation, car-share, unmanned vehicles and electric vehicles.

«Our challenge is the transition to electric vehicles, primarily the buses. We adopted the programme, which involves the acquisition each year from 2018 to 2020 300 buses of domestic production, and 2021 has already accepted the decision of the government of Moscow that in 2021 we will only buy electric buses. This means that after about seven or eight years in Moscow will be only electric transport», — said Liksutov in the framework of the expert Council.

He stressed that it is not only extremely important issue from the point of view of ecology, but also an additional impetus to Russian industry for the production of modern and competitive rolling stock.
