The Saint-Petersburg electoral Commission needs serious restructuring, the electoral system of the city has accumulated a lot of chronic problems, said the head of the CEC of Russia Ella Pamfilova.

The CEC at a meeting on Wednesday recommended the elect Viktor Minenko, former chief Federal inspector for St. Petersburg office of the presidential envoy in the northwestern Federal district, Chairman of the Petersburg electoral Commission. Previously, the CEC has proposed his candidature for appointment to the electoral Commission after the resignation of the former Chairman of the city Commission Victor Pankevich, to which the CEC was a large claim.

During the meeting, which was held via videoconference with the Commission of St. Petersburg, the CEC expressed reservations about the work of the Commission as a whole.

«All of the claims I will not list their weight. Now we are going to solve them in working order. I think have a serious reorganization of work of the Commission… If we talk about all the chronic problems that have accumulated, a lot of them. The main problem is that properly the Commission does not control the lower-level election commissions in full,» — said Pamfilova.
