The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov said that «the Crimean Declaration» of the US non-recognition of Russian status of the Peninsula is nothing new, and the lives of the Crimean people it will have no effect.

The U.S. state Department published a «Crimean Declaration,» in which Secretary of state Mike Pompeo reiterated that Washington does not recognize Crimea as part of Russia and did not lift sanctions imposed over the annexation of the Peninsula. The aim of the Declaration is a formal codification of U.S. policy towards Crimea.

«The U.S. position on Crimea is well-known, so there is nothing new in the Declaration no. Washington still does not want to accept the results of free will of the Crimean people, but it recognizes and supports the Nazi regime in Kiev, which seized power in a coup. We once again showed that the concepts of freedom and democracy for American politicians mean nothing», — wrote Aksenov on his page in Facebook.

According to him, the logic of the US authorities is simple: everything that does not correspond to the geopolitical interests of America is a violation of democratic norms and international law. «This approach discreditied not only the so-called «Crimean Declaration», but also the international image of the United States. It is a source of destabilization of the entire system of international relations. To life and the mood of the residents of the emergence of a Declaration does not affect. We made the choice,» — said Aksenov.

According to him, the March referendum in 2014 was consistent with the UN Charter. «The Russian Constitution defines Crimea and Sevastopol as constituent entities of the Russian Federation. According to our President, the question of territorial belonging of Crimea is closed forever. That’s all that matters», — concluded the head of the Republic.

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»Aksenov said that «the Crimean Declaration» the United States is nothing new© Vitaly Podicipedidae plate
