The first animals, which the owners bought the tickets on Russian trains for a solo trip, steel dog and cat, told RIA Novosti in the «Federal passenger company» (FPC, «daughter» of Russian Railways on the transportations of passengers in long-distance trains).

FPC from 16 July 2018 launched in pilot mode in 13 trains service for the carriage of animals in the long-distance trains unless accompanied by the owners. Dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles can be sent in the baggage compartment. The ticket price for the pet starts from 730 rubles, depending on distance of travel.

Animals for carriage without the owner needs to be in cages or containers. They will be in the Luggage compartment for the entire trip. The pet can be sent in an envelope accompanying documents, the drinker water feeder and food, one toy, absorbent to maintain cleanliness in the cell. The condition of the animal during the trip will be to observe the conductors of passenger cars.

At the destination station workers train crew will give the animal to the recipient specified in the Declaration, after the presentation of the identity card. One sender may issue no more than three places (cells or bins) for the transport of animals, each of which is the sum of three dimensions not exceeding 180 cm In each cell or container may be transported no more than two Pets.

It is noted that if the loading and unloading of cells carry the conductors, the weight of each cell together with the animal should not exceed ten pounds. If the sender and receiver are loading it yourself, the weight can be up to 75 pounds.
