The BRICS countries intend to cooperate in joint research on a distributed registry and technology of the blockchain, it follows from the joint Declaration signed by the leaders of the countries following the meeting in Johannesburg.

Earlier Thursday, the Bank announced the signing together with the development banks of the BRICS Memorandum on joint study of the prospects of using technologies for distributed register (blockchain) as part of the development of the digital economy. The document was signed by VNESHECONOMBANK, the Brazilian Bank for economic and social development BNDES, export-import Bank of India, the State development Bank of China and the development Bank of southern Africa (DBSA)

«We welcome the signing of a Memorandum of understanding on collaborative research on a distributed registry and technology of the blockchain in the context of the development of the digital economy. We believe that this work will contribute to our cooperation in the framework of adaptation to the rapidly evolving Internet economy», — stated in the Declaration.

The BRICS summit held on Thursday in Johannesburg. It will last until July 27. By the end the leaders signed the Johannesburg Declaration at the end of 10 years of work of the organization.

Signatures under the document was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President XI Jinping, Prime Minister of India Narendra modi, President of Brazil Michel Temer and the owner of the current jubilee summit, the leader of South Africa Cyril of Ramaphosa.
