About 5 thousand residents of the self-proclaimed Lugansk people’s Republic took part in the procession on the occasion of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Russia, have informed RIA of news in law enforcement bodies of the LC.

The clergy of St. Vladimir’s Cathedral at the head of the procession carried the ark with the relics of Prince Vladimir. At the end of the procession in the Cathedral was a thanksgiving service.

«Today in the procession (in Lugansk — ed.) was attended by about 5 thousand people», — told RIA Novosti the representative of law enforcement bodies of the LC.

The Chairman of the National Council LNR Denis Miroshnichenko said that on the territory of the St. Vladimir Cathedral to take part in the procession attracted people of different professions and ages. «I think it’s not only for the Republic of an important event, but also for the entire Orthodox world, and it is very important for people who generally keep the peace», — said Miroshnichenko.

Celebrations also began in Kiev. As reported in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in the procession in honor of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Russia on Friday in Kiev was attended by about 250 thousand faithful from all the dioceses of the UOC and pilgrims from abroad, despite the obstacles scale was created for the faithful of the Ukrainian officials and carriers.

In the Russian capital, the main celebration will take place on July 28. They will be attended by heads and representatives of 11 local Orthodox churches in the world. The feast of the Baptism of Russia is celebrated day of memory of Holy Prince Vladimir (July 28), whereby in 988 ancient Rus adopted Christianity.
