Began the longest lunar Eclipse that will occur in the twenty-first century.

That the Eclipse will begin at 21.24 GMT, previously reported in Roskosmos. Astronomical event will last until 1.19 GMT on 28 July, and its full phase — from 22.30 to 00.13. As previously reported by the Russian space Agency, just in the twenty-first century will be 225 lunar eclipses, only 85 of them will be full, and longer than three hours will last only six.

The Eclipse will take place near the point of climax, that is when the Moon is farthest from Earth. Therefore, the disk will seem so small — the diameter of the moon is two and a half times smaller than the diameter of the Earth shadow.

Moon, moving in orbit, plunge into the Northern part of the shadow of the Earth and passes through its center. The earth’s shadow fully eclipsed the visible surface of the moon, causing the satellite will be painted in crimson red color.

In addition, on this same day there will be another event — the Great opposition of Mars with the Sun. Planet as close to Earth and will overtake in the glare of Jupiter. The total phase in the North-Western areas will be well-regarded in Western Siberia and the start — up of lake Baikal. However, in the Northern part of Siberia the Eclipse will not be noticeable.

The most favorable conditions for observing celestial show in Russia will be in the North Caucasus, the Caspian depression and the southern Urals. In these areas the maximum phase of the Eclipse will occur around midnight local time and will be visible at a height of more than 20 degrees above the horizon. In the Central regions of Russia will see the moon at a lower altitude.
