About 23 million people in 28 provinces and Autonomous regions of China were in the flood area from the beginning of the flood season (may 1 — ed.) during this period all over the country from flooding killed 86 people, 13 more are missing, said at a briefing on Friday the official representative of the state Chancellery, Department for national control of floods and monitoring of droughts, China’s Zhang Statoin.

At the request of the Agency, most from the rampant disaster affected Sichuan province in the southwest of the country and the Autonomous region of Inner Mongolia in Northern China. In total across the country were flooded 2.8 million hectares of agricultural land, destroyed more than 30 thousand houses.

The greatest number of victims and severe destruction was recorded in July, when the country was hit by several typhoons, causing floods, landslides, avalanches, mudflows in most regions of China. According to Zhang Szatana, this season registered 12 typhoons, 4 of which hit the territory of China, most often in the area of their influence were the coastal provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian and Zhejiang.

During the period 283 large and small rivers throughout China was flooding that caused the most flooding.
