Russia plans to increase assistance to African States in the field of energy development, said Friday the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

«I emphasise that Russia intends to increase its assistance to development of national energy African States. With a number of countries, for example Angola, Mozambique, Gabon. Implementation of promising oil and gas projects,» Putin said at a meeting of the BRICS leaders with heads of delegations of the invited countries.

He noted that in the field of nuclear energy, Russia is a technological leader.

«We offer the African partners to create turnkey entire industry. The cooperation agreement on the peaceful atom signed with several countries of the region, and some work has already moved into practice,» — said the Russian President.

According to Putin, all of these projects for Africa will be of strategic importance as on the continent live without electricity, 600 million people.

«A significant part of the Russian initiatives is the localization of production in Africa, including among others the construction of plants parts and Assembly enterprises», — said Putin.

He expressed confidence that the implementation of such projects will strengthen industrial potential, supporting local business, creating new jobs.
