The Croatian President told about the results of meeting with Putin

The President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic told a national television HRT about the impact of meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin on development of relations between the two countries.

Grabar-Kitarovic visited with official visit to Sochi in October 2017, and also attended football matches in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow during the football world Cup in July. Journalists asked her a question about the likelihood of a return visit to Croatia of the Russian leader.

«Yes, on a return visit, talks. Of course, it depends on the schedule of President Putin and my schedule. I think that this is not under question. Happens when you are in agreement about the agenda — more precisely, about the program of talks» — said the President of Croatia, the TV channel.

She added that compared with last year’s official visit in October, at a meeting with the Russian President on the sidelines of the 2018 world Cup «we came to the conclusion that solved several problems that were discussed at the talks in Sochi.»

«The role of Sberbank in the process of putting in order (of an agricultural holding. — Approx. ed.) Agrokor to air pollution (for Croatian version in connection with the work of the oil refinery Brod. — Approx. ed.) in Slavonski Brod and some other issues. We conclude that we have achieved good progress, and this is a good reason to move on,» said Grabar-Kitarovic.

The Croatian President said that it is important that the Russian Federation «fully supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and European way» in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Croats are one of three constituent peoples.

«When it comes to Croatia, we should do everything in our economy, which in the system of sanctions, suffering losses, but we have to find alternative ways, the products that can be exported to the European market outside of the sanctions regime. And to ensure that Agrokor as the firm, which is partially controlled by the Russians through Sberbank, VTB and so on, the corresponding position in the Russian market», — said the President of the Republic.

According to Grabar-Kitarovic, from the very beginning involved in the negotiations on the financial problems of the largest agricultural holding Agrokor with the Russian side and «they assure me that they have the best of intentions».

Agrokor is the largest private company in Croatia, where in April last year, the authorities took the decision to introduce emergency management. More than a third of the debt (1.3 billion euros), the company needs to Russian banks.
